- Bar-B-Que Crisis (May
98)
*From Soup Central News - May
98
- Always light a gas barbecue
with the lid open.
- (A closed lid gets in the
way of the match!)
- Once a barbecue is lit -
don't move it!
- (First, it's heavy, second -
it's hot, and third - only dogs eat dinner off the
ground!)
- Barbecue away from hanging plants, buildings,
etc.
- (Flaming your house will not
put dinner on the table any faster! Might get your
teenager moving tho. And don't forget - Vinel siding
melts!)
- Never use a barbecue inside
- (It's dirty, it smells, and
it's dangerous! Besides - the whole idea is to cook
outdoors!)
- Store propane cylinders upright
- (Why would anyone try to
store it upside down?)
- Never store a filled propane tank indoors
- (This is serious - propane
is under pressure in the can - so there's lots more there
than you think - enough to fill a good sized basement if
it leaked out!)
- Always fill your tank before the first sunny day
of spring
- (Now if I'd followed that
rule, I'd have cooked outdoors on the first great weekend
- instead of spending time driving from station to
station!)
- Never try to put a new Barbecue together before
dinner.
- (The voice of experience
here says: "You'll starve!")
- When the flames come out the bottom of the
barbecue, it's time to replace the thing!

- What can we learn from
Dogs (April 98)
*From the newsletter of
WebCards! and Soup Central News - April 98*
- * When loved ones come home,
always run to greet them.
- * When it's in your best
interest, practice obedience.
- * Let others know when
they've invaded your territory.
- * Take naps and stretch
before rising.
- * Run, romp and play daily.
- * Eat with gusto and
enthusiasm. Stop when you've had enough.
- * Be loyal.
- * Never pretend to be
something you're not.
- * If what you want lies buried, dig until you find
it.
- * When someone is having a
bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them
gently.
- * Thrive on attention and let people touch
you.
- * Avoid biting when a simple
growl will do.
- * On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the
grass.
- * On hot days, drink lots of
water and lay under a shady tree.
- * When you're happy, dance around and wag your
entire body.
- * No matter how often you're
scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run
right back and make friends.
- * Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
