Shelf Life / Packaging / Storage

What is the
shelf life of your soups?
Our soup stores best high,
dry and cool. But most importantly - protect our
soups from insects! If you are thinking long term
storage, we seriously recommend air tight (insect
tight) plastic containers. Left on a shelf, our
soups are guarenteed to taste just like we made
them for 12 months. After that, the spices will
naturally lose flavor, while salt and pepper stay
the same. The result is a soup that will be a bit
saltier than we think it should be. It's still fine
- but our carefully crafted balance of flavors just
won't be the same.

I bought a great
tasting soup at Sam's/Costco in a tin. Do you still
sell it?
Yes - just not in those
cute tins! There were simply too hard to ship. You
can get the same soup - in the same size - in our
food service sized bags. Just
check it
out!

Can I use your
soup in my Hurricane /Earth Quake
shelter
Of course! And a delicious addtition it will be
too! Just rotate your stock - Once a year at least
re-order our soup for your shelter, and eat the
soups from the year before. That will help keep us
in business (and it will keep your stock
fresh!)

Can your soups
be frozen while still in the pouches?
Yes they can! Since the bags aren't water tight,
you might get some evaporation - and the soup base
may bend up getting clumpy. But just break it up as
best you can, and be sure it's all disolve before
you add the boiling water.

Can your soups
be frozen after they are cooked?
Yes! Just cook as normal,
pour the fresh soup into tuppleware/ziplock
containers, label and freeze. When you defrost the
soup - it should be perfect. But if you need to add
extra water to thin the soup down - that's normal.
Some freezers will evaporate more water from soup
than others, you need to put it back it. Best bet
there - add boiling water after the soup has warmed
up - that gives you the best control.

How long can
your soups be stored in the refrigerator after they
are cooked?
5 to 7 days at most. But I recommend freezing
the left-overs - they can be kept in the freezer
indefinitely.
