Sodium/Salt

Do your soups/sauces contain lots of Salt?

We manufacture soups and sauces for restaurant use. They require that the soups taste perfect, each and every time they prepare them - so we balance our flavors for the average consumer. If you like extra salt, you'll need to add some. If you like less salt - some of our soups are lower in sodium (under 800 mg per 8 fl oz), you can tell which are which by looking for the icon next to the soup you'd like to try.

Which soups are lower sodium products?

We have 10 soups that are lower in sodium (under 800 mg per 8 fl oz serving). You can see which is which by looking for the icon in the catalong and on line. These soups are: Cream of Asparagus, Cream of Carrot and Dill, Cream of 3 Mushroom, Cream of Chicken Veloute, Beef Veg with Pearl Barley, Bean and Bowtie (under 500 mg), French Canadian Pea, Classic French Onion, Cream of 10 Veg (just 430 mg if you add 5 cups of water instead of 4).

Do you have No Salt Added Soup Bases for home use?

Yes - we have both a Chicken and a Beef. The Chicken has only 140 mg of Sodium per 8 fl oz, the Beef just 220 mg of Sodium. You can find them on the soup order page.

Do your soups taste salty?

We don't think so! Since we make soups for restaurants - all of our soups have been tested for that use. But you may disagree. If you think our soups are too salty, we recommend that you add another cup of boiling water to 4 cups of soup right before serving. This will dramatically change the amount of salt. Also - 10 of our 18 soups are have less than 800 mg of sodium (watch for the symbol on the website). If you know you are sensitive to the taste - pick from that group. We want you to love our soups - that's the whole idea! And if you find one of these 10 soups bland - add salt! It's all that's missing.

Do you have nutritional low sodium soup bases (for hospitals)?

The amount of sodium in these soups is less than 5 mg per 6 fl oz serving. To order them - you must go to the food service part of the site - Click here - and then search using 'low sodium' as your key word. If you have trouble - just call us - 1-800-267-3333 ext 235
