I got your newsletter last night and I sat right down to read it. I really enjoyed it so much. I must tell you that I think you are a lovely person. ( Leslie- Hee hee, oh go on! ) When I called in my order the other day, you were so nice to me on the telephone. I just enjoyed talking to you. I enjoyed reading your newsletter so much that I was wondering if you had any back issues on the computer that you could forward me to read. Since I'm a new customer, this is the first one I've read. ( Leslie- Sorry Margaret, I don't really keep them, but don't worry, you're at the top of my list for the next one!)

Vegetarian Chili

I thank you so much for being there when I needed you!!! I survived the ice storm of 1998 in Alfred, Maine while "camping out" in my cellar near the wood stove while cooking your "Chili Bean Soup Mix" that I had just recently ordered!---- It was excellent! --We had friends who stopped by who could not believe how nice life could be!!! Thanks again for the wonderful "survival/camping food".

Your Chili was delicious!! I made it with ground turkey, a small can of tomatoes and rice. It was a great meal--I'm looking forward to the leftovers! ( Because, as we know, chili tastes better the next day!!)

The chili was excellent - full-bodied and tasty, although a little light on the spices. We had to add tabasco before it came up to our personal level of taste. It looked good as well, and with cornbread and a salad served 5 people easily.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Tomato Vegetable soup

My Mom was visiting when your Tomato Vegetable Soup arrived in the mail. She loves soup, so she's rather picky, (she has a cultured soup palate you might say).

I didn't join her the first night, and she just raved about the flavor of the soup, the ease of preparation, and most especially the number of vegetables floating around in that bowl. I joined her the second night and had to agree that this soup couldn't come out of a can.

We were so impressed that I ordered a soup sampler of each flavor for both my Mom and me. Mine arrived while she was still visiting, and I think she will polish it off before she goes home!

Cheese & Vegetable Soup, Cream of Broccoli, Montreal Style Bar-B-Q Rub

I loved the soups! It was a lot of soup, and I know I ate way too much of it. Yum!! We decided to freeze most of the Cream of Broccoli and it seemed to freeze rather well. We've slowly been taking out containers of soup to eat. They've all microwaved very well. Wow!!

We definitely will be buying more Bar-B-Q Rub too. My husband and son really like it on their chicken.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Jim & I are incurable soup makers! We're always "cookin' soup" when we have a few free minutes. Well, quite by accident, I've found the most incredible soup mixes - and on line no less! You can surf the site and then order their FREE soup sample - enuf to feed 1/2 an army at least.

I can't tell their Chicken Noodle from our homemade and that's sayin' a bunch 'cause we make goooood soup! They're good folks with a good product at E.D. Foods.

Vegetarian Chili

Although it called for a pound of ground beef (for con carne), I as I always do, increased the quantity of meat by at least 50% and put in 1.5 pounds. (The word "vegetarian" is not in my vocabulary).

It was delicious, different somehow than other chili that I have had. I think it was the peppers in it. I make my own chili from plain old packaged chili mix and canned beans, and it's pretty good, but I don't use any peppers, just lots of meat as usual. I'm ordering more right now.

By the way, I thought your last newsletter was outstanding!

Here are the family's comments: Me - very good. Would love to eat this regularly. My Wife - This is great. All the kids are eating it. Jedidiah (7)- Had 3 bowls full at one sitting. I think he liked it. Joshua (6) - Not a soup eater! His comment was "This tastes great." Jacob (4) "This is my favorite". This soup was a big hit with the whole family!

The Chili was very good. I made it yesterday, with the ground beef, as directed. My family enjoyed it for supper, a nice after Thanksgiving Day meal. The aroma filled the house, almost as good as the turkey the day before!

Bean and Bowtie Soup
